2008 - Centenary Library

Prior to the move to the new library, the library managed a
range of collections including:

  • fiction print materials (picture books, novels)
  • non-fiction print materials (books, magazines, posters)
  • audio-visual materials
  • educational kits
  • electronic equipment (e.g. laptops, data projectors, DVD players, digital cameras)
  • curriculum materials and curriculum boxes to support
    specific units of work
  • teacher reference material
  • school historical material.

2011 - New Library

The nature of the library's collection is changing. Many resources, like audio visual cassettes and posters have been replaced by the use of online and off-line electronic media through data projectors and IWBs. Print encyclopedias were replaced by Encarta Kids. Next year, we plan to investigate purchasing electronic atlases and picture dictionaries. As there is a space crisis in the library, two resource rooms are being established. One for lower school guided reading books and big books. The other for curriculum boxes, upper school guided reading materials and science and maths resources. Computers and scanners will be located in the rooms so that teachers can process their own loans. The school historical material has been digitised.

Now that teachers have their own laptops, fewer laptops are kept for loan through the library. In addition, most data projectors are now classroom fixtures. On the other hand we have purchased document cameras, speakers and webcams to lend out through the library.
