The 1st 20 hours of my SPP were spent at our state school Centenary Library which was opened in 1965 to commemorate the 100 years that the school had operated on its current site. Very little has been done, particularly in the past 2 years, to enhance the visual appeal of the library.
Instead the TL has devoted his attention to plans for a new library which will be completed in December 2008.

 So what's the attraction?

The Nundah BCC Library is conveniently located a short walk across Boyd Road from the school. I completed 20 hours of my SPP there to help establish community links between the school and the BCC library. Council libraries are keen to make links with schools. There are many advantages to having a good working relationship with the Council library staff.

So what're the benefits?

The final 20 hours of my SPP were spent in our new state school library, which was opened in 2009. Having a brand library is like having a blank canvas to paint. It can be exciting and daunting.

So what's been done

Designing Spaces for Learning site visits. Visiting learning hub sites of different kinds is a great way to pick up new ideas. Learning hubs can be historical buildings, museums or libraries.
